2012 Holiday Open House Schedule

Oh, we’re going to be busy the next several weeks.  We’ll be open for business at Brickmania for all your custom LEGO kit & BrickArms shopping!

“Black” Friday, November 23rd:  10am – 4pm (all ages), and again 6pm – 9pm (ages 21+).  The evening event is for all the folks who want to purchase stuff for their kids, but can’t do that with kids in tow.  We’ll have the music playing, there may be ‘adult’ refreshments, and we’re even planning on having present wrapping supplies and possibly some experienced gift wrappers if you’re all thumbs like I am!

Saturday, November 24th:  10am – 4pm.

The first four Saturdays in December:  1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd:  10am – 4pm each day.

(Then, I think we’re going to take a well deserved break until our first 2013 Open House on January 12th.)

Hope to see you at Brickmania soon!  And as always, if you bring your LEGO train we’ll pull ours off the tracks and let you run yours.

Click here for directions, or if you have a GPS unit use this address, it should put you right outside our door on 18th Avenue:  909 18th Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN

November Open House

Yup, it’s that time already, time for our monthly second Saturday of the month Open House, November 10th.  Our usual hours, 10am – 4pm.

We might still be taking down some Halloween decorations, we have some zombies we need to turn back into regular Lego minfigs, and we might start putting out the Winter stuff – but we’re as comfortable with people seeing the process as seeing the results.  Besides, we like to build stuff!

Come into the space off of 18th Ave, our door is about 100 yards West of Central Ave.  If you use ‘google maps’ we’re at 909 18th Ave NE Minneapolis – that should put you right at our door.

We’re still trying to finalize plans for a couple extra Open Houses between now and January, so stay tuned!

Halloween Open Houses October 26th and 27th

We had such a good time, and had such a good turnout last weekend, we’re doing two more Halloween themed Open Houses this weekend!

Friday, 6pm – 9pm; and Saturday, 6pm – 9pm (the Brickmania store space will open at 5pm on Saturday).

Zombies!  Monsters!  Aliens!  Even more weird things than we usually have on the train layout!  The room is darker, the lights on the displays look better, the ‘black lights’ will be lighting up the fluorescent bricks in strange and wonderful ways.

Trick-or-Treats for the kids, costumes encouraged, come out and have some fun.

For more information, check out the Brickmania Blog!

October Open House

It’s time for our October Open House, this Saturday, the 13th.  10am – 4pm, at Brickmania Toyworks.

The trains are running, the Brickmania store is stocked, Jeannine will be back with her Crazy For Hue creations, and you might get a sneak preview of some of the Halloween themed stuff we’ll have out the following two Saturdays.

Have we mentioned that we’re doing Halloween Open Houses again this year?  October 20th & 27th, 6pm – 9pm both nights.  The space will be darker, there will be costumes & candy, and there will be some special displays we only bring out for Halloween.  These will not be a free event, we will be charging admission, but that money goes towards the operating costs for the train layouts and the Brickmania space.  We’ll also be collecting food for a Nordeast Minneapolis food shelf, since we like to be good neighbors.  Go here for more info!

Special “Hello” to the folks who are discovering about us after the Atlas Obscura event on September 29th, and the Edison High all class reunion on October 6th.  Come visit us again!

And as always, bring your trains to one of our events, and we’ll pull ours off the tracks and run yours.

See you Saturday!

Extra Saturday Open House September 29th

Our friends at Atlas Obscura are celebrating the release of a new mobile phone app and their updated website on September 29th.  As part of their world-wide celebration of all those interesting and out of the way places we all love to explore, they’re having a Twin Cities bike ride / tour.

Atlas Obscura had a party in our old space in April last year, and it was a great time and we met some really fun people.  They’ve asked if Brickmania would mind being open as a ‘drop in’ spot for the bikers, and we thought that sounded like a fun way to spend a Saturday!

So, September 29th we’ll be open from Noon to 6pm.  Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to have the garage door open, and the bike riders can ride right in and hang out for a bit.  And if anyone riding a bike brings a Lego train to run on our layout, we’re going to be especially happy.

And of course that means that if anyone else wants to stop by, we’ll be there!  Brickmania store is well stocked, come on in for all your custom LEGO military kit and BrickArms needs.

Oh, and stay tuned for some more extra Open Houses in October and beyond!

September Open House

September Open House is early this month, in fact the earliest the “Second Saturday” can be – the 8th!

So now that the kids are back in school, and the weather is getting cooler, come on out to Brickmania this Saturday and hang out with us for a while.  Our usual hours, 10am – 4pm.  Weather should be nice enough that the garage door will be open.  Note:  Some folks are going to the door at 1620 Central Ave (Brickmania’s mailing address), but that door is often locked on the weekends.  It’s easiest to enter the space directly off 18th Ave, just about a hundred yards west of Central Ave.  If you use google.maps, use the address 909 18th Ave NE, Minneapolis — that will pretty much put you at our door!

Trains will be running, store will be stocked (and possibly remodeled), some new things might be appearing on the layouts, and we are always happy to see you!

We set a new record in August with nine ‘guest trains’, we even had three of them running at one time.  Maybe ten this month?

Jeannine will be back with her Crazy For Hue doll clothes, she has several new designs that will be available for the first time.  (And we’re going to try to bring in more artists and crafters for future Open Houses as well!)

See you Saturday!

August Open House

Second Saturday in August is just a few days away, August 11th.  So that means it is time for another Open House!

10am to 4pm, at the Brickmania space just off of 18th and Central Ave in beautiful Nordeast Minneapolis.

If you need directions, you can find them here.

And as always, if you bring your LEGO train we’ll pull ours off the tracks and let you run yours.  Although, this is starting to be so popular that we might have to start putting a time limit on it.  We’ll see how the train traffic goes this weekend!

July Open House this weekend!

It’s time for our first Open House of the Summer, July 14th!

For those of you who visited us during Art-A-Whirl when we had the guest vendors, we’re having another one on Saturday.  The GMLTC’s own Jeannine will be there with her Crazy For Hue “American Girl” doll clothes and accessories.  You can see more of her work on her Facebook page as well.

Our regular hours, 10am – 4pm.  And as always, if you bring your LEGO train, we’ll pull ours off the tracks and let you run yours on the GMLTC layout.

We hope to see you Saturday!

Big weekend coming up, June 8th – 10th!

This is a big weekend for LEGO fans here in the Twin Cities!

At the Mall of America, there will be several special LEGO themed events, in honor of the Mall turning 20 years old later this summer. Help build a huge display model! Displays by LEGO fans from around the area! Not one but *two* master model builders! Some super-secret surprises! It’s going to be a great time, and most of the GMLTC will be at the mall sometime during the weekend to help out.

AND, we’re having our first “second Saturday of the month” open house in our new and amazing Brickmania space on Saturday the 9th! We’re looking forward to watching people’s reactions as they see the space for the first time. Our usual hours, 10am – 4pm, and as always, bring your LEGO train and we’ll let you run it on the GMLTC layout.

See you Saturday!
